The owner of the blog “I Heart Edmonton” has decided to focus his attention on other projects, so I will no longer be writing reviews of Edmonton books at the site. However, I will continue to stay active in the local literary scene, writing book reviews and author interviews for other sources.

From the Ground Up, my community access television program on SHAW Cable 10, will be slowing down a bit over the summer, as there are fewer activist events to feature. However, things will probably perk up again in the fall for the start of Season Two!

It’s been really busy around here at camp Words, Pictures, Music. My first major update is that is you enjoy watching From the Ground Up on Shaw Television, it is now showing on weekday mornings at 7:30 a.m., weekend mornings at 9:30 a.m., and a Saturday evening show at 7 p.m.

Next, my work was recently nominated in two categories at The Yeggies (Edmonton New Media Awards). Boyle McCauley News, which I edit, was nominated in the category of Best in Non-Profit. Radical Citizen Media was nominated in Best In Politics or Current Affairs. Although the award went to others in both categories, it was definitely an honour to be nominated.

As a freelance communications professional I find that every once in a while I have to reinvent myself, develop new skill sets, or, at the very least, hone my existing ones.

Working on the McCauley Moments documentary project opened some doors for me in television. Shaw TV picked up the film and has been showing it on its community station this week. This has brought a new audience to my work, at least this part of my portfolio.

Television is going to be more a part of my work in the near future. Stay tuned for an announcement within the next couple of weeks.
